It takes extraordinary forbearance to restrain from exploiting nature. To find nature important enough to justify the changes necessary to preserve and restore it, first we must experience it as intrinsically valuable (or sacred).
Today’s Green Thought comes from american philosopher Frederic Benders 2003 book ‘The Culture of Extinction’.
Does it really take extraordinary forbearance to stop exploiting nature? Normally I would disagree and say only the insane would need such forbearance! However in this insane capitalist culture which states that nature exist purely for the purpose of its exploitation by homo-superior it is now considered insane to show any forbearance at all. Hence George Osborne's comments.
