Funny he should say that we are a mining society because the Greek God associated with mines and mining is Hades which is the God of the Dead (and the underworld). Romans Latinised him into Pluton the God of Wealth and death and he holds a cornucopia. In short the ancients recongiesd that there is a close relationship between the acquisition of wealth and death! Plutonomy refers to our type of economy whilst at the same time plutonium refers to the most deadly and destructive material currently used by man i.e. People need to be reminded that Wealth=Death!
